Pamela Macrae, Pupil Support Assistant at Aberdeen School for the Deaf, was last night (Monday 12 September) voted Unsung Hero at the prestigious Children and Young People’ Services Awards run by Aberdeen City Council.

For the first time ever, the public voted for the nominees and Pamela was announced as the winner at last night’s glittering event at the Beach Ballroom.

Pamela was nominated for the award by Nominated by Alison Buchan, Head of Sensory Support Service, Aberdeen School for the Deaf, for her nine years’ of tirelessly work supporting a profoundly deaf pupil with additional learning difficulties and for her volunteer work in the local community.

Aberdeen City Council’s Convener of Education and Children’s Services Committee, Councillor Angela Taylor said: “Pamela is a very deserving winner of this wonderful award, voted for by the public. She has made an immense contribution to the community in general and one young person in particular.

“All of our nominees have made a huge contribution to the lives of the people they come into contact with on a daily basis and they all deserve enormous credit for their selfless efforts."
