Roads closed due to flooding

15 June 2016

Two roads have been closed this afternoon due to flooding caused by the heavy rain over the past 36 hours.

The U53c Chapel of Stoneywood to Newton Kirkhill road, which is the back road beside Marshall Trailers on the A96 down into Dyce Drive, is closed in both directions. Local diversions are in place.

As a consequence of the water coming from the U53c, one south-bound lane on the A96 Aberdeen to Inverurie road is also closed.

Motorists should be aware Riverside Drive beside Bon Accord Glass may flood.

It is also expected that Culter Burn will come out of its channel during this period of persistent rain, and Aberdeen City Council has taken the precautionary decision to deliver sandbags to the Millside and Paddock area of Peterculter. The sandbags are for residents to collect and use to protect their properties, ie to seal doors and vents. It is unlikely that flooding will take place but sandbags were considered to be a sensible precaution.

Aberdeen City Council staff will continue to monitor these situations.
