Schedule of work for playpark refurbishments

09 June 2017

A schedule of works has been created for the first phase of the 2017/18 programme of playpark refurbishments along with community consultation events for the larger scale developments.

The refurbishments of playparks started in 2013/14 and have continued in a rolling programme since then, with officers ensuring they are spaced out around the city.

The sites scheduled for the first phase of work are located at Wales St, Cliffton Rd, Piries Lane/Printfield, Orchard Street, St Ninian’s Court, Oldtown Terrace, Persley Crescent, Abbey Place, Clova Park, Ash Hill Road and Lee Crescent. Any existing play equipment at these sites will be removed in the next month or so in preparation for new kit being installed later in the year.

An Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman said: “Some disruption is inevitable during this type of work but we hope that the resulting facilities will make up for any short term disappointment caused.

“We would ask people to be patient in the meantime.”

Short consultation events have been planned to allow the public an opportunity to view options for some of the larger scale developments. Staff will be on hand at each of these events to take comments and answer questions about the site in question, and children from local schools will also be asked to vote for their favourite plan from the options available.

The event details are:

Tuesday 13 June, from 12pm to 4pm, at Kingswells Community Centre for the Clova Park development;

Thursday 15 June, from 10am to 1pm, at Middlefield Community Hub for the Oldtown Terrace development;

Tuesday 20 June, 1pm to 4pm, at Old Torry Community Centre for the Abbey Place development;

Thursday 22 June, from 9:30am to 12pm, at Cairncry Community Centre for the Ash Hill Road development;

Thursday 22 June, from 9:30am to 1pm, at Seaton Learning Centre for the St Ninian’s Court development.
