Showcasing opportunities beyond the classroom

07 March 2017

A youth recruitment event aimed at supporting school leavers to make informed choices about their future beyond the classroom is to be hosted by Aberdeen City Council.

The fourth Moving On youth recruitment event, in partnership with Skills Development Scotland, invites young people including recent school leavers and upcoming summer leavers to learn about the employment, training and higher education opportunities available in the area.

Aberdeen Asset Management, Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeenshire Council, Arnold Clark - GTG Training, Fairhurst and Ship Safe Training Group are among the many local organisations which will provide advice, apprenticeship opportunities and entry level positions, as well as guidance and advice to those not ready to leave school. Parents and guardians are also welcome to attend.

Aberdeen City Council Communities, Housing and Infrastructure vice-convener Councillor Gordon Graham said: “It is a difficult decision for many at an exciting time of their lives. This event will help guide young people on career paths suited to them, recognising each has an important role to play as part of our city’s talent pool.”

This drop in event, which is being held in the Town and County Hall at the Town House on Thursday 30 March from 12.30-7pm, is part of Aberdeen Guarantees, a partnership initiative led by Aberdeen City Council aimed at improving opportunities for 14-25 year-olds.
