Union Terrace Gardens to close for SPECTRA set-up

This year’s festival venues are Union Terrace Gardens, The St Nicholas Kirkyard, the St Nicholas Centre roof garden, Marischal College and Seventeen on Belmont Street. In order to accommodate the installation of the festival, Union Terrace Gardens will be closed from the morning of Thursday 2 February until the public opening on Thursday 9 February, then again from the evening of Sunday 12 February till the 15 February to allow the safe removal of the supporting event infrastructure.

Access to Union Terrace Gardens for visitors to the festival will be from 6.30pm with last entry at 9.30pm from the 9th - 12th February inclusive. For other site opening information, please see the website www.spectraaberdeen.com .

With an expected nightly attendance of approx. 10,000 visitors, it is likely that there will be an increased footfall at, and in the surrounding city centre areas for the event during these dates and times.

Organised by Aberdeen City Council, the four-day free event invites audiences to engage with playful, accessible and high quality performances, spaces and works of art using light, sound and interactive experiences.
