Year of Young People Creative Funding closes soon

16 April 2018

Young people in Aberdeen have just under a week left to apply for Aberdeen City Council’s Year of Young People Creative Funding. Closing on Sunday 22 April, the funding initiative has made £100,000 available as part of the 2018 Year of Young People to help individuals and groups realise their creative projects across the city.

Individuals aged 16 – 25 who live in Aberdeen can apply for up to £2000, while not-for-profit organisations and community groups working with young people can request up to £10,000. The funding aims to enrich the lives of Aberdeen’s young people by celebrating their achievements, valuing their contributions to communities, and creating new opportunities for them to shine. It creates an opportunity for young people to lead on the development and management of creative projects, in addition to increasing participation.

Councillor Lesley Dunbar, Aberdeen City Council’s spokeswoman for young people, said: “We have had over twenty enquiries already and I’d encourage individuals and young people groups to get there applications in for Sunday to make the most for the opportunities Aberdeen City Council is creating as a celebration of the Year of Young People.

“We are totally committed to creating a platform for our young people to express their creativity and to develop new skills, projects and ideas. The funding we have provided will help them do just that.”

Applications need to be in by 5pm on Sunday. Sunday 22nd April and full information, guidelines and application forms are available on the Aberdeen City Council website: https://www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/services/leisure-culture-and-sport/year-young-people-creative-funding-2018
