Coded bias

Coded Bias explores the consequences of MIT Media Lab researcher Joy Buolamwini´s discovery that facial recognition fails to recognise women and dark-skinned faces accurately, and her journey to push for legislation to govern against bias in AI algorithms. This film asks crucial and timely questions, including questioning the impact of the application of AI on our society, and identifying the social consequences when AI is biased toward race, colour, or gender.

We follow the film screening with a Q&A discussion and networking event with panelists from the School of Natural and Computing Sciences, Law and Psychology.

This event is taking place as part of British Science Week.
