Aberdeen City Council is delighted to host the first ‘Festival of the Sea’ – a two week celebration of the history, traditions, and relationship between the city and the sea.

From 15-28 July 2024, the festival will deliver a wide selection of events across the city.

Aberdeen is known as a city of the sea with deep-rooted connections to its maritime and marine past. Fresh seafood is still sourced daily from our two rivers and neighbouring fishing harbours along the 165 miles of surrounding coastline.

By embracing the city’s rich maritime history, as well as highlighting further points of interest across the city, this will demonstrate the pride that the city has in its heritage, values and community.

With miles of stunning coastline surrounding Aberdeen, visitors can explore stunning beaches and learn more about the region’s marine past in the Maritime Museum.
