Details

St Mary’s Chapel, part of the Kirk of St Nicholas building across from Marks and Spencer, will be open to the public again after nearly 3 years. The Chapel dates back to the mid-1400s and is one of those hidden gems in the heart of our city. Over the past year we have started restoration work and now have wheelchair access for the first time – but there is much work still to be done. Inside there is a collection of beautiful stained glass, 17th century carved wood, a vaulted ceiling, stone carved corbels, grave slabs and much more. A small booklet about the Chapel will be available to purchase and there will be a display of the history of the Chapel and the recent changes.

The OpenSpace Trust will have the Chapel open between 10 and 1 with wardens available to answer questions. We also hope to have tea or coffee if people want to spend a little longer.
