Foster Carers wishing to transfer to Aberdeen City Council

Transferring to Aberdeen City Council’s fostering from another local authority or private agency

In the first instance you will be offered a home visit by one of our managers, the aim of this will be to discuss

  • the reasons why you want to transfer,
  • our processes, following the Best Practice Protocol
  • if any child/children are in placement
  • any particular considerations we should be aware of

After this meeting you will be given the chance to consider the information passed on and we will consider if we are able to proceed. If for any reason we are not proceeding you will be given the reasons in writing within 14 days.

In order to be transparent we advise that you are clear with your current agency should you want to proceed and we will want to discuss your transfer when it is clear that this can proceed and per the agreed process.

We will remain in contact with you about each stage of the process and allocate you a member of our team who will be able to progress your transfer.
