Aberdeen City Libraries is taking part in the Year of Stories 2022 this autumn with a series of storytelling sessions for children aged 8 to 11 exploring the wealth of traditional stories and folk tales from the North East.
As part of its ‘Aberdeen Voices: Iconic stories of childhood’ programme, together with the Grampian Association of Storytellers and local storyteller Pauline Cordiner, Aberdeen City Libraries will take a look at some of the iconic childhood tales from the North East.
Children can join the storytellers for a fascinating journey through stories from Aberdeen’s past, including The Beast of the Clash, Theft of a Smell and The Horseman’s Word.
Councillor Martin Greig, Aberdeen City Council’s Education and Children’s Services Convener, said: “There is a great wealth of stories from the north East so it is good to have this chance to focus on our local literature.
“Young people in particular will be able to enjoy the adventure of exploring and hearing about the characters and events.”
This event has been supported by the Year of Stories 2022 Community Stories Fund. This fund is being delivered in partnership between VisitScotland and Museums Galleries Scotland with support from National Lottery Heritage Fund thanks to National Lottery players.
Marie Christie, Head of Development at VisitScotland said: "We are delighted to be supporting Aberdeen City Libraries through the Year of Stories 2022 Community Stories Fund.
