Aberdeen’s climate change expertise shared with Canadian delegation

A group of Canadian energy commentators joined Jonathan Turner, the British Consul from Calgary, in meeting with Council leaders and staff today to learn how Aberdeen puts net zero policies into action.

The delegation included journalists, researchers, and a leading energy podcaster, on a factfinding mission to make the case for a clean transition to a green economy in the country.

Aberdeen City Council Co-leader, Councillor Christian Allard said: “It was a great pleasure to welcome Mr. Turner and his colleagues to Aberdeen today to showcase a few of our net zero projects.

“As a city at the heart of the energy sector, achieving a green and just transition is a vital priority. Climate change is a global issue and we are enthusiastic to work with our international partners to share our experience and best practice.”

The session included presentations on the Energy Transition Zone and the city’s hydrogen programme, which has deployed over 115 vehicles and has two publicly-accessible hydrogen refuelling stations.
