Grass-roots organisations in Aberdeen have until noon on Friday 05 January 2024 to apply for financial help to deliver employability projects in the city.
The ABZWorks Development Fund will support activities for residents who face barriers to employment, with a view to helping them move closer to the labour market or into employment, training, education, or volunteering.
Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Christian Allard said: “We want to harness community and third sector expertise as a way of helping people towards employment, especially those who are traditionally the hardest to reach.
“The ABZWorks Development Fund aims to support these organisations, which are already doing excellent work, to build their capacity and reach, while also giving more people to access employability programmes and work. The deadline to apply is 5th January so we would encourage organisations to apply as soon as they can.”
Activities on offer may include confidence building, wellbeing sessions, parents' groups, an introduction to computers, and job clubs.
The initiative will align with the Aberdeen Local Employability Partnership Delivery and Action Plan. There is a particular focus on Aberdeen’s priority areas: Kincorth, Ashgrove, Stockethill, Torry, George Street, Middlefield, Mastrick, Cummings Park, Northfield, Heathryfold, Seaton, Woodside, and Tillydrone.
The grants issued through this fund will also support Aberdeen’s Community Wealth Building Action Plan. Community Wealth Building is an approach which aims to place control and economic benefits in the hands of local people and communities.
