A complete closure of King George VI bridge is happening overnight tonight to allow the contractor to carry out specialist work.
The closure will start at about 7pm and finish at about 6am tomorrow. The works are applying specialist material to the expansion joints following the resurfacing last week.
An Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman said: “We apologise for the inconvenience of these works however they are essential work for the bridge at the request of the contractor.”
Motorists can use Queen Elizabeth bridge, Victoria Bridge, or the City Bypass as an alternative.
After 6am, the bridge will revert to being closed south-bound, with only one lane heading north. Roads affected included Great Southern Road between its junctions with King George VI bridge roundabout and the Duthie Park roundabout, and the A92 Stonehaven Road between its junctions with Bridge of Dee roundabout and the Garthdee roundabout.
The completion of the resurfacing and waterproofing work is due to finish late next month (June 2023) however this will be dependent on what is found in phase two of the works.
