Council tenants are to be given the chance to have their say on proposed rent increases.
Councillors agreed today at a Full Council meeting to listen to the views of tenants to understand the impact that a rental increase of 10% in 2025/26 could have.
Convener of Communities, Housing and Public Protection, Councillor Miranda Radley said: “We are committed to understanding how rent changes might affect individuals, families and communities across Aberdeen.
“The views of our tenants will help inform decisions about how we can continue to deliver quality housing.”
Tenants will be asked to share their views on a rent increase, as well as on amending the rent differentials between properties with a different number of bedrooms.
Rent is held in an account known as the Housing Revenue Account (HRA), which is reserved for paying to manage, repair and improve the Council Housing stock.
Tenants will also be asked about the impact extending the life of kitchens from 20 to 25 years and bathrooms from 30 to 35 years will have on them.
Under the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001, the Council is required to consult with tenants on any proposed rent increases and other charges.
The consultation will begin this month.
