First Bus will ensure audiences will not miss their Spectra connection by offering a free day ticket for Spectra attendees, making it easier for people to visit the festival.
Inspired by the theme of ‘Connections’, Scotland’s Festival of Light will return to illuminate Aberdeen with a packed programme of free artworks and events, from Thursday 08 February to Sunday 11 February.
This year, Spectra visitors will be able to enjoy free travel to-and-from the festival, delivered by Aberdeen City Council, thanks to a special ticket offer from First Bus. People living in Aberdeen and visitors alike will be able to claim a free day ticket for First Bus services, making it easier for them to plan a Spectra visit on their chosen date.
Councillor Martin Greig, Aberdeen City Council’s Culture spokesperson, said: “Every year Spectra draws thousands of visitors to Aberdeen city centre, and this year we are very pleased to be partnering with First Bus to ensure that everyone can travel to-and-from the festival in a safe and sustainable way.
“We hope that many people can make use of the offer and are able to enjoy the incredible artworks as well as the wide range of wonderful hospitality our city has to offer.”
Attendees who sign up to the Spectra mailing list will be able to claim one free day ticket, redeemed through the First Bus app, per app user to redeem during the festival dates from 08 to 11 February. More information on how to claim the offer can be found at the Spectra website.
A leading light of the North-East’s year-round cultural calendar, is created by production company Live Event Management in collaboration with the Council.
Graeme Macfarlan, Commercial Director for First Bus Scotland said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Spectra once again to offer sustainable travel to everyone going to-and-from the festival. Events like this, which bring so many people to Aberdeen city centre, are fantastic for everyone and captures the imagination by showing off some of Aberdeen’s most iconic buildings in a new, exciting way.”
This year marks the festival’s tenth anniversary and Spectra will once again see the Granite City’s winter nights illuminated with eye-catching projections, interactive sculptures, and magical installations for all ages.
Audiences can look forward to seeing some of Aberdeen’s most iconic buildings and locations transformed as part of the spectacular festival programme, from a colossal network of light globes inspired by the human brain in Union Terrace Gardens to a flock of luminous butterflies in Aberdeen Art Gallery, dazzling dance-led projection across HMT and an enormous glitterball love heart at Marischal Square.
