Applications for the Childcare Sector Omicron Impacts Fund have been released this week for businesses affected by the measures to control the spread of the Omicron variant of Coronavirus.
One-off grants will be available to ‘private or voluntary/not-for-profit’ services, including out-of-school care providers and childminders, and will be administered by Aberdeen City Council.
The level of grant available to each setting is based on a setting’s registered capacity with the Care Inspectorate, ranging from £950 to £4500.
Childcare services are eligible to receive a national grant if they were registered with the Care Inspectorate on 31 December 2021 as being either:
- A ‘day care of children’ and a ‘private’ or ‘voluntary or not for profit’ service, or;
- A ‘childminding service’.
This includes private and voluntary settings delivering out-of-school care, childcare settings in independent schools and outdoor childcare settings.
Education Convener Councillor M. Tauqeer Malik said: “Being able to provide support to those looking after our city’s children but have been affected by Omicron is so important.
“We will be able to continue to make sure children in Aberdeen still receive the care that they need and provide parents with support in childcare.”
