Highland Games set to bring summer fun to Hazlehead Park

Aberdeen is preparing for the return of the popular Highland Games to Hazlehead Park next month.

The Aberdeen Highland Games, taking place on 16 June from 10am to 5:30pm, is set to be a fun-filled day of activities that all ages can enjoy.

The Lord Provost of Aberdeen, Dr David Cameron, will officially open the Games.

The Lord Provost said: “The Highland Games is a much-loved feature on our events programme each year and it is always great to see crowds turn out.

“I am looking forward to opening this year’s Games and welcoming back locals and visitors to our city this summer and seeing the fantastic talent on display.”

This year’s Games will include traditional Scottish Highland Games competitions such as caber tossing and weight over the bar, as well as a selection of fine food and drink from local producers and quality trade and charity stalls.

Those attending can also enjoy a selection of fun and free activities, including a climbing wall, crazy golf, Wheelie Fun and Slackline, a new event where participants can show off their skills on tight rope walking.

Stage entertainment will also be on throughout the day from professional performers and community groups.

The popular Bancon Homes Charity Mascot Challenge will return, with 7 mascots competing in a series of challenges in order to be crowned the 2024 champion and win money for their nominated charity.

Four-legged friends will be welcome to attend alongside their owners, so long as they remain on a lead at all times and can enjoy the dog activity zone.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased in advance via our website or on the day. More information can be found online.
