Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Christian Allard said: “Employability, supporting people into work, and alleviating poverty are key themes and priorities for Aberdeen City Council.
“By working in partnership, we want to help remove the barriers refugees and displaced people face in getting into work to ensure that all individuals and families in Aberdeen have equality of opportunity and can live here in peace, and enjoy a happy, healthy, fulfilling and prosperous lives.”
Janice Lopatkin, Chair of Trustees, Refugee Employment Network, said: “The Refugee Employment Network is thrilled for year two at Aberdeen's Refugee job fair, uniting refugees with employers and services. It is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives and their futures. We are delighted to be working with such an amazing team at ABZWorks and the DWP.”
Attendees are advised to bring copies of their CVs and Right to Work in UK documentation as there will be the opportunity to meet employers face-to-face to discuss live vacancies and to apply for jobs.
A team of employability keyworkers will be on hand to provide support and guidance. Attendees are welcome to bring someone with them for support.
To date, employers at the event include Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeen City Health & Social Care Partnership, Business Gateway, First Bus, HSBC, Leonardo Hotels, Marriott Hotels, NHS Grampian, Sense Scotland and Space Solutions.
