Meet the Buyer event offers major business opportunities in Aberdeen

A variety of sub-contracting opportunities from two multi-million-pound contracts will be showcased at a Meet the Buyer event next week in Aberdeen.

Local businesses are invited to attend the event, hosted by Aberdeen City Council.

Robertson Construction has been awarded a £24.8million contract by Aberdeen City Council to build the replacement Riverbank School in Tillydrone. This follows the £4.2million site enabling works carried out by the firm.

Robertson Construction is also the main contractor for the construction of the ONE SeedPod food and drink manufacturing innovation hub being built at Craibstone, a £27million Aberdeen City Region Deal project led by Opportunity North East.

Robertson is interested in meeting suppliers offering expertise across a broad range of disciplines, including groundworks, joinery, masonry, electrical, architecture, landscaping, and internal works.

The Meet the Buyer event, delivered by the Council’s City Growth service, will enable local businesses to find out about sub-contracting opportunities associated with both developments and to meet with the Robertson team to discuss tendering opportunities ahead of a networking session.

Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Christian Allard, said: “Aberdeen City Council has an ongoing commitment to improving the school estate and the continued inclusive economic growth of the city. This Meet the Buyer event demonstrates our commitment, ensuring that our businesses and people can benefit from major public and private sector investments.

“Local businesses can secure significant contracts through Meet the Buyer activity and I encourage all those with an interest in this area to attend the event and learn first-hand about the wide range of opportunities on offer to them.”

Gordon Milne, Regional Managing Director, Robertson North East, said: “As part of our commitment to the areas where we have projects, we seek to work with local supply chain where possible. Our projects go beyond delivering for our customers, they are an important part of bolstering the local economy through local spend where appropriate. We look forward to meeting potential new suppliers and discussing opportunities.”

The Meet the Buyer event will be held from 10am until 11.30am at the Town House on Monday, 4 September 2023.
