A new approach to the allocation of council housing in Aberdeen that allows residents to make informed decisions on where they live has been introduced.
Choice Based Lettings (CBL) allows applicants to see all available properties from Aberdeen City Council and bid for those that they wish to be considered for through the Housing Online portal.
Homes will be advertised online each week, with the bidding cycle running from Tuesday to Tuesday.
It is anticipated that through the CBL system, the number of unsuccessful offers of housing will significantly reduce and in turn increase customer satisfaction.
Communities, Housing and Public Protection Committee Convener, Councillor Miranda Radley, said: “We are delighted to launch Choice Based Lettings and enable our residents to have choice and control over the homes they would like to be considered for, in the area of their choosing.
“This new approach will help to ensure that Aberdeen continues to be a popular place for individuals and families to live.”
Vice convener Councillor Dell Henrickson said: “Choice Based Lettings is a fantastic way to engage with and empower our local communities by allowing them to make an informed decision about both the home and area they would like to live in.”
