The popular Pets’ Corner in Hazlehead Park has a new addition – and visitors will be chomping at the bit to see him.
The cute new addition is a 16-month-old Shetland pony who is sure to be a new ‘mane’ attraction at the facility.
However the brown-and-white pony, which is only 32in high at the shoulder, does not have a name so a competition is being held for primary school youngsters over the October break to come up with a suitable suggestion.
Other animal attractions at Pets’ Corner include meerkats Dee and Don, Mason the donkey, two cross-bred pigs, turkey, chickens, sheep, goats, miniature donkeys, budgies, ducks, guinea fowl, canaries, ferrets, rabbits, and guinea pigs.
Aberdeen City Council Operational Delivery Convener Councillor Miranda Radley said: “The Shetland pony is a fantastic new wee addition to Pets’ Corner and I’m sure he will be ‘neigh’ bother along with the other animals.
“Lots of visitors to the facility will be galloping through Hazlehead Park to see the new pony and take part in the naming competition.”
To enter the competition, people should visit the entrance of Pets’ Corner for a competition form.
