Aberdeen Welcomes Offshore Europe

Offshore Europe Aberdeen

Aberdeen is preparing to welcome thousands of delegates to this year’s SPE Offshore Europe, which takes place at P&J Live from September 5-8.

The event marks 50 years since the energy industry conference’s launch in the Granite City in 1973.

This year’s theme is ‘Accelerating the transition to a better energy future’ and will have as its focus energy security, energy transition, future talent and innovative technology.

The Lord Provost of Aberdeen Dr David Cameron said: “Offshore Europe has been instrumental over the years in putting Aberdeen on the map as Europe’s energy capital.

“The sector faces new challenges but also opportunities with the move from oil and gas to renewable energy. Offshore Europe will showcase the city’s Net Zero ambitions and its current success in accelerating that transition.”

Due to parking on site being extremely limited and pre book only via P&J Live website, delegates are strongly encouraged to use the Park and Ride sites at Kingswells, Craibstone and Bridge of Don. There will be a free shuttle bus service running each day starting at 6:30am (BOD 7:35am) last departures back to the park and ride sites are between 6.00pm and 6.30pm. As well as this there are numerous other free shuttle bus services available to delegates from some local hotels, industry offices and from the city centre. For details please download the official bus timetable here Offshore Europe Bus Timetable.

Along with the Offshore Europe specific shuttle buses, the Stagecoach 727 service is free to delegates on presentation of their delegate badge and runs to and from the Airport to P&J Live and onto Union Square every 20 minutes daily (Stagecoach timetable)

Electric charging facilities will be available at the Kingswells Park and Ride site.

The Offshore Europe bus provision is using a blended fleet including both fully Electric and Hydrogen-powered buses and will give delegates first-hand experience of Aberdeen’s pioneering use of green technology.
