The Royal Foundation’s Homewards Programme to recruit Local Delivery Lead

An exceptional candidate to play a major role in the implementation of Homewards in Aberdeen following the successful launch of the Homewards Programme by Prince William in Aberdeen and five other locations last week is being sought by The Royal Foundation.

Prince William visited Tillydrone Community Campus last Tuesday to launch Homewards, a five-year locally led programme which will demonstrate that together it is possible to end homelessness - making it rare, brief, and unrepeated.

Homewards will take a transformative approach to the issue of homelessness and put collaboration at its heart, giving Aberdeen new space, tools, and relationships to showcase what can be achieved through a collective effort focused on preventing homelessness in the city.

The Royal Foundation is seeking an experienced delivery lead and stakeholder manager. They will bring together local leaders and representatives of private, public and voluntary sector organisations into a single coalition, working collaboratively to develop and deliver a transformational action plan to end homelessness.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic, self-motivated individual to be at the centre of a high-profile local initiative and make a tangible positive difference to the community, while making an important contribution to wider, national level impact over the next five years.

Locally, the programme wants to achieve a greater understanding of homelessness within Aberdeen which would facilitate more openness and willingness to have conversations about housing difficulties, leading to a new flagship housing project for the city during the five-year programme. There is also a strong desire to further engage with the private sector, such as working with local businesses on employment pathways.

Councillor Miranda Radley, Convener of Aberdeen City Council’s Communities, Housing and Public Protection Committee, said: “We are delighted to be working so closely with The Royal Foundation as the only Scottish location chosen to drive forward Homewards mission to demonstrate that homelessness can be ended.

“Recruiting a Local Delivery Lead is vital in ensuring the success of the project as we look to work collaboratively with the local organisations who provide invaluable support and advice to those who unfortunately find themselves homeless within our city.”

Aberdeen is the only Scottish location whose bid was successful for the Homewards programme, and it has been chosen by The Royal Foundation alongside five other UK locations at Northern Ireland, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, Lambeth, and Newport and Sheffield.

The impact of Homewards will reach beyond the six locations, with results and findings from each location being used to create a flexible, tried, and tested model that can be adopted by other areas in Scotland, the UK and internationally.
