More care experienced children, young people and care leavers are being encouraged to continue to provide their experiences of care and how they feel about their lives.
The Centre for Excellence for Children’s Care and Protection (CELCIS) and Coram Voice ‘Bright Spots’ research programme was launched on International Care Day on 16 February.
Aberdeen City Council Education and Children’s Services convener Councillor Martin Greig said: “I would encourage all our care experienced young people throughout Aberdeen to take part in this survey and share their views on their experiences in care.
“By taking part, the children and young people can continue to help us shape and improve the care that they receive.”
Through this programme, the ‘Your Life, Your Care’ survey and Your Life Beyond Care Survey was distributed to children, young people and care leavers aged 4-25 addressing their experiences of care, their social worker, carers, friends, wellbeing and happiness to improve the support and services they receive.
Around a third of young people approached have already submitted their views and experiences of the care they have received.
The survey, which is not mandatory to complete, can be completed by a young person themselves, or with the support of a trusted adult, using a computer, tablet, smartphone or by completing a paper copy.
The results from the survey will be used to produce a report that will help to improve the experiences of children and young people in care and ensure they are supported throughout their care journey.
Anyone interested in taking part can contact the Youth Team directly on 0800 917 8545.
