Grants available for start-up businesses

A grant scheme to help start-up businesses in Aberdeen was launched by Aberdeen City Council today.

Sole traders, partnerships or limited companies who have set up within Aberdeen City Council boundary since 1 January 2024  can apply, with one grant per business permitted. This scheme has been funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

A fund has been made available to provide grants of £1,000 to business start-ups or £3,000 to business start-ups taking on a rateable premise or commercial space within Aberdeen.

Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Christian Allard said: “Recently, Aberdeen was named the top city in Scotland to work for a smaller firm. This grant scheme will reinforce the city’s position.”

Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Ian Yuill said: “I am delighted the City Council is able to distribute this money to support new businesses in Aberdeen.

“I hope every business that meets the funding criteria applies to receive this money as soon as possible.”
