All residents who were displaced due to the Merkland Road East fire yesterday can return home now.
Many thanks to ACC staff, volunteers, Aberdeen Sports Village, Red Cross volunteers, police and SRFS crews and officers for their assistance.

The rest centre at Aberdeen Sports Village has been closed for tonight. All people and pets have been accommodated.
If you are a resident in the Merkland Road East area needing assistance, please speak to police at the scene.

About 95 people so far today have used the rest centre set up by Aberdeen City Council at Aberdeen Sports Village as a result of the fire in Merkland Road East. The people attending the rest centre have included adults and children. Pets including dogs and cats have also been accommodated at the rest centre.
Only people staying in properties who police have advised to evacuate can use the rest centre. If you live in a neighbouring street and have not been advised to evacuate, you can return to your home. Please be aware parts of Merkland Road East and Ardarroch Road continue to have no vehicle access.
Aberdeen City Council is in the process of organising a hot meal and securing emergency overnight accommodation in case they are needed for evacuated residents.

Most of Merkland Road East and part of Ardarroch Road are closed due to the fire earlier today. Please be aware there is no vehicle access to these streets at present.

A rest centre has been set up in Aberdeen Sports Village for residents evacuated from Ardarroch Close and Merkland Road East due to the nearby fire.
Anyone going to the centre are asked to take essential items such as any prescription medicine and warm clothing. People taking pets should also bring their prescription medicine, along with leads, pet beds, and food.
