Thanksgiving service to be held for Key Workers

A service is to take place on Sunday at the Kirk of St Nicholas Uniting to give thanks to key workers and those who made sacrifices during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Individuals who supported the city during the pandemic will be in attendance from a range of services that includes care providers, educators and emergency services, alongside key workers from within Aberdeen City Council.

The Reverend Hutton Steel (Acting Moderator, Presbytery of Aberdeen and Shetland) is to lead the service, which will also see key workers deliver readings.

A Commemorative Stone will be unveiled in the churchyard marking the bravery and sacrifices made by the people of Aberdeen during the pandemic.

Pipers from the Robert Gordon’s College Combined Cadet Force will also be in attendance to welcome guests to the Kirk.

The Lord Provost of Aberdeen Barney Crockett said: “It’s wonderful to be able to show our thanks and gratitude to all our key workers and those who made sacrifices throughout the pandemic.

“Hosting a Thanksgiving service such as this to applaud all of the hard work and dedication that has gone in to combat Covid-19 is one way that we can ensure that those sacrifices are never forgotten for generations to come.”
