Global real estate advisor CBRE is to relocate its Aberdeen team to a new prime office in prestigious Marischal Square creating a new hub for the firm in the North-east of Scotland.
CBRE has secured a suite on level two in 1MSq on a new 10-year lease and is expected to relocate its 15 staff from current west end premises on Albyn Terrace and take occupation in the Grade A building in Spring 2023 following a period of fitting out.
The office will also become a hub for the firm’s 60 Global Workplace Solutions team which is based throughout Aberdeen looking after clients’ facilities.
Aberdeen City Council Finance and Resources Convener Councillor Alex McLellan said: “We are delighted that CBRE, a major global company, is relocating its Aberdeen office to Marischal Square.
“The development provides high quality office space with strong environmental credentials and is helping to regenerate the east end of the city centre.”
CBRE joins other prestigious businesses at the office, hotel, and restaurant complex including the newly-opened Resident X, Royal Bank of Scotland, Chevron UK, KPMG, EY, Tenaris, Aberdeen Journals, NSTA, NESPF, Maggie’s Grill, Mackie’s, All Bar One, Costa, Tony Macaroni, and Marriott International.
Derren McRae, Head of CBRE’s Aberdeen office, said: “Marischal Square is a prestigious development in the beating heart of the city centre which has a real big city buzz to it.
“The move will allow the team to work in best-in-class office space with the added benefit of looking across to the stunning Marischal College, Aberdeen’s most recognised and celebrated granite building.
“1MSq’s fantastic green credentials and wellness facilities underpin our commitment to our environmental and social strategy and will improve the workplace experience for our people, mirroring our market-leading offices across the UK. The building’s strong environmental credentials were a key factor in CBRE selecting it.”
The state-of-the-art building comprises 122,000 sq ft over six floors and has the best BREEAM and EPC ratings of any office building in Aberdeen with sustainability features and technology embedded throughout.
CBRE represented itself in the transaction whilst Savills and Ryden acted for Aberdeen City Council. CBRE will project manage the fit out.
