Selection for interview

Once the vacancy has closed, the recruiting panel will review your application and look for evidence on how you meet the criteria listed on the job profile of the post you’ve applied for.

Only applicants who fully demonstrate the criteria to the requirements of the recruiting panel will be invited to interview.

If you’re not shortlisted, you’ll receive an email and your application status will be updated on myjobscotland to reflect the decision.

If you are shortlisted, you’ll receive an invitation to attend an interview by email and your application status on myjobscotland will be updated to reflect this. So it’s important that you check  the email address linked to your myjobscotland account regularly after the closing date to avoid missing the invite or general updates on the vacancy.

In the email inviting you to attend an interview, you’ll be asked to book an interview time slot online. Please ensure you do this as soon as you can as there are no emails sent to remind you about this.

In the event that you’re unable to attend the interview date/time offered, you should get in touch with the recruiting manager to let them know. It’s not always possible to reschedule interview dates/times and if you’re unable to attend, then your application may be withdrawn.

At the same time, it is becoming more common to carry out interviews over Microsoft Teams or other video conferencing apps, so it might still be possible to have your interview even if you’re not in Aberdeen or the UK.
