Garden waste permits are changing. From 1 September 2024, for households using wheelie bins, garden waste will be emptied for free from one brown bin. You will not need a permit for this bin.
If you would like to use a second or third brown bin for garden waste, you will need to buy a permit for each additional bin. Permits are available for £30 per additional bin. Households can present a maximum of three brown bins for garden waste collections.
You can still recycle food waste for free, without a permit, in your brown bin.
Using your additional garden waste permit(s)
Once ordered, your additional permit(s) will be sent to your home within 21 days. Once received, you should attach all permits to your brown bins before putting them out.
Follow the instructions on the back of the permit which show you how to attach it. The permit is durable, tamper proof and will have your address on it.
