In accordance with The Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013, Aberdeen City Council is conducting a review of polling districts and polling places.
Details regarding the current arrangements and proposals for changes can be found here
Elections Mapping Application
The Council report explains the background to the review and the reasons for the proposed changes. The appendices to the report include maps which detail the proposed polling district changes and a full list of all proposed polling districts and places in the Aberdeen City area.
The Elections Mapping Application allows users to view the location of polling districts and polling places across the City and to compare previous with proposed arrangements. It also provides the facility to contribute to the consultation by commenting on the proposals.
The review is intended to take account of learning and feedback from recent elections and any recent change in circumstances. Polling places must be well located and accessible to all electors, including voters with a disability, so far as practicable.
Representations on the proposals are invited from elected representatives, political parties, electors within the Aberdeen City Council area, electors within a UK Parliamentary constituency which has any part within the Aberdeen City Council area and persons or organisations with particular expertise in respect of access to premises for people with different forms of disability. Those making submissions are encouraged to propose alternative venues for polling if they have concerns about current and proposed provision.
The deadline for receipt of representations is Friday 8th March 2024. Any representations received will be posted on the Aberdeen City Council website and be available for public inspection.
The Returning Officer will comment on the proposals and this will be published on the website alongside other representations received.
After this deadline, and consideration of all representations received, a report containing the final proposals for polling districts and polling places will be submitted for consideration at a meeting of Aberdeen City Council by July 2024.
