Religious communities

Qualification criteria

Certain people from religious communities are disregarded for council tax purposes. This means that we bill your household as if you were not living there.

You qualify for this disregard if:

  • You have no income or capital of your own
  • You are dependent on the community to provide your material needs
  • Your principle occupation consists of prayer, contemplation, education, the relief of suffering or a combination of these.

You must meet all of the above criteria to qualify.
