  • another 3 schools took part with an additional 180 pupils in the programme

Lessons learned and words of wisdom for others

"The Community Food Growing Fund and Aberdeen City Council were key in us being able to develop educational materials designed around school gardens" says Bob Donald, Chair of community growing initiative One Seed Forward. "We were delighted with the commitment and interest of staff and pupils at Aberdeen schools we worked with, along with the various community groups who also took part. These materials and the knowledge gained in constructing gardens have allowed the expansion in the number of schools now wanting to become involved in increasing outdoor learning in their lesson plans, along with the health and wellbeing improvements in children learning how to grow their own food."
