We hold interment records for several burial grounds within the north east of Scotland. Please see a full list on our Online Catalogue under the reference BR*.
Digitised versions of records for Aberdeen City burial grounds can be viewed on Deceased Online (£). Aberdeenshire burial records that are held with our Archive service are not available through this site. These will need to be viewed in our search room.
Burial grounds map
This map shows the locations of the burial grounds we hold records for. The red pins indicate Aberdeenshire burial grounds and the blue pins show Aberdeen City burial grounds.
Burial records are generally set out chronologically in date order. The information you can usually expect to find is: the name of the deceased, their age is usually noted, along with possibly their address and next of kin, and a lair number.
Burial Records elsewhere
Additional burial records are held by both the Bereavement Services department of Aberdeen City Council (post 1900 records) and the Landscape Services department of Aberdeenshire Council. Aberdeenshire Council have made many of the records held by the Landscape Services available through Deceased Online.
You can find details of other burial grounds in the north east, along with an index to published Monumental Inscriptions, on the Aberdeen and North East Scotland Family History website.
