Aberdeen City Council established the Economic Policy Panel in 2017 with a remit of evaluating and advising on the economic performance of the city and the region. The sixth annual report by the independent panel was launched on 19 January 2024.
The Economic Policy Panel comprised Professor Graeme Roy, Professor of Economics and Dean of External Engagement in the College of Social Sciences at the University of Glasgow and Dougie Peedle, economist member of the Armed Forces Pay Review Body and Head of Economics and Valuing Nature at the RSPB and formerly Chief Economic Adviser to the States of Jersey,
Their work supports the Council’s annual credit rating assessment by Moody’s, following the £370million bond issue on the London Stock Exchange in 2016 to support the capital programme.
Aberdeen City Council is the first authority in Scotland to issue a bond and to commission an annual report on economic performance.
