Aberdeen SMEs in Digital Tech, Tourism, and Food/Drink sectors can apply for grants to attend trade shows and exhibitions. The Learning Journey Support scheme aims to boost business growth and export readiness.

Funding covers travel, accommodation, tickets, or exhibiting costs. Aberdeen City Council manages the scheme, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Grants are available for voluntary and community organisations in Aberdeen to support projects that benefit the local community but do not qualify under other grant programs. The Small Financial Assistance Grants Fund, provided by Aberdeen City Council, aims to support one-off funding requests that demonstrate clear benefits to the local area.

Funding is intended for activities that contribute positively to the community, particularly those that are unable to secure financial assistance through standard channels. Applicants can include costs associated with approved projects in their funding requests.

Grant size: £1,000 or £3,000

Grants for new businesses (established after 1 January 2024) within Aberdeen City Council area. Supports start-up costs, including for businesses taking on premises. Open to sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.

Managed by Aberdeen City Council, funded by UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Applicants must engage with Business Gateway before applying.

Grant size: Up to £10,000 (Funding between £3,000 and £10,000 is available for pilot year)

Funding is intended to support community projects in the Torry and Cove areas of Aberdeen that align with 6 pillars: biodiversity, jobs & skills, net zero, wellbeing & play, young people, and heritage & place. Priority for pilot year is projects representing children, youth, families, and older people. Funding can be used for capital projects and some operational costs.

Grant Size: Up to £250,000 (capital funding), up to £50,000 (revenue funding). Exceptional cases up to £2 million.

Deadline: Rolling programme with specific bidding windows

Grants for incorporated voluntary and community organisations or parish, town, or community councils to take ownership of assets at risk of closure. The asset must provide long-term community benefit and be at risk without community involvement.

Managed by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC), funded by the UK Government. Applicants must provide 20% match funding for capital grants.

Grant size: Up to £5,000

Grants are available for constituted community groups, registered charities, and social enterprises in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to support sustainable transport initiatives.

This fund aims to support and encourage travel planning and increasing sustainable travel throughout the Northeast of Scotland., such as increasing travel to work by public transport, cycling and walking, and reducing the need to travel.

Grant size: up to £500 per project

Grants are available for not-for-profit community organisations in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire with an annual income under £50,000 to support climate action and biodiversity projects. The NESCAN Hub Seed Fund empowers local groups to tackle climate change and enhance biodiversity through community initiatives.

The fund is an opportunity for communities to suggest projects that aim to reduce the impact of climate change; protect biodiversity; build climate resilience; or raise awareness about climate issues. Priority is given to projects that create long-term change, build community capacity, encourage collaboration, and promote sustainability.

Managed by the North East Scotland Climate Action Network (NESCAN) Hub, the fund supports projects like reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing local biodiversity, adapting to climate change, and raising awareness about climate action.

Grant Size: Up to £10,000

Grants are available for businesses and organisations in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to promote sustainable travel initiatives. The Sustainable Travel Grant Scheme (STGS), managed by the North East Transport Partnership (NESTRANS), focuses on supporting and encouraging travel planning and travel awareness throughout the region.

Funding is designed to assist organisations in investing in measures that encourage sustainable travel, such as developing travel plans, enhancing pedestrian access, and installing facilities for

cyclists. This can include secure cycle parking, shower/changing facilities, and conducting travel surveys to better understand and improve commuting habits.

Grant size: Up to £400,000 (Funding between £20,000 and £400,000 is available)

Funding is intended to support social sector organisations in the North East of Scotland with activities that can deliver against the Scottish Government’s Just Transition Outcomes, which include moving to a more sustainable economy, diversifying the regional economy away from carbon-intensive industries, ensuring the creation of good, green jobs, and ensuring all communities directly benefit and contribute to the region’s future prosperity.
