Your data: The North East Economic Recovery and Skills Fund (NEERSF)

Thank you for expressing an interest in The North East Economic Recovery and Skills Fund (NEERSF). Aberdeen City Council is the lead accountable body for the North-East Economic Recovery and Skills Fund to enable individuals and organisations to access this Scottish Government investment in the region. This notice tells you how we will use any personal information you give whilst taking part.

How we use your information

The information you provide will be used to:

  • Contact you to discuss your needs.
  • Respond to your enquiry and to enable communication.
  • Assess your previous CVs, employment history and qualification level and refer you to suitable employers.
  • Provide you with information about graduate internships or work-based training opportunities proposed by local employers in the public, third sector and private sector who participate in the NEERSF Fund and other related support.
  • Enable Aberdeen City Council to compile NEERSF bids and assess you against NEERSF eligibility criteria.
  • Administer the fund as required by the Scottish Government.
  • Information may also be used to support the administration of the fund, for audit purposes and reporting to the Scottish Government about the outcome of the NEERSF Fund.

Who we share information with

We will share your personal information including your contact detail and your CVs and graduation certificates with selected third parties/employer(s) to allow them to start their internal recruitment process and invite you for further assessment for the available internships/work-based training opportunities within their organisations.

We are required to report anonymised statistical information to the Scottish Government about participation and success of the scheme.

We are also legally obliged to share certain data with other public bodies and we will do so where the law requires this. We will generally comply with requests for specific information from other regulatory and law enforcement bodies where this is necessary and appropriate. Your information is also analysed internally to help us improve our services.

How long we keep your information for

We will keep your personal information for the minimum period of time necessary. The personal information you submit in order to secure an NEERSF internship or work-based placement will be kept for 6 months from the close of the fund. Anonymised statistical information will be kept for 2 years from the close of the fund. It is likely that we will keep records of the administration of the fund for 6 years from the close of the fund, but as this is a new national fund we will follow any national guidance in relation to how long we keep this information. You will not be identifiable from this information.

Your rights

You have rights to your data, including the right to ask for a copy of it. See more information about the rights you have, how they work in practice, and the contact details of our Data Protection Officer. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office. They are the body responsible for making sure organisations like the Council handle your data lawfully.

Our legal basis

Aberdeen City Council is the data controller for this information. Whenever the Council processes personal data we need to make sure we have a basis for doing so in data protection law. We understand our legal basis that we consider the administration of the NEESRF Grant as being part of our public task.

Where this processing includes special category data the Council’s legal basis is that the processing is necessary for reasons of substantial public interest.
