Your data: salt bag requests

How we use your information

We collect your information when you request a salt bag, including your specific requirements. All information you give us will only be used to process your enquiry and help you access our salt bag service. We may have to share your information with other teams in Aberdeen City Council and contractors relevant to your enquiry. This could include sharing your information with the company that delivers the salt bag to the agreed location or sharing the information with the housing service if you wish to store salt with a rented property.

If you have provided us with contact details and indicated you would like to be updated with our responses to your enquiry, we will use your contact details for this purpose. This information will be kept electronically and if you indicate you would be happy to be re-contacted we will use it prior to each winter to deliver the salt bag service.

How long we keep your information for

If you request to be re-contacted by the service prior to each winter, we will retain your information to allow us to do this. You can ask to no longer be re-contacted at any time. If do not wish to be contacted or you no longer wish to have the salt bags provided your enquiry will be closed and your personal information will be destroyed. We will not be able to contact you directly unless you resubmit a new request.

Your rights

You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office. They are the body responsible for making sure organisations like the Council handle your data lawfully.

Our legal basis

Aberdeen City Council is the Data Controller for the information you provide. Wherever we process personal information we have to make sure we have a basis for doing so in Data Protection Law. We understand our basis for responding to and acting on your enquiries as 6(1)(e) of the General Data Protection Regulation. This is because this activity is part of our public task under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or The Roads Scotland Act 1984.
