Making a Splash! A Century of Women’s Beachwear

aagmMakingASplashHatGlasses-homepage

Seaside fashions have been influenced by social and political change, the Hollywood film industry and innovations in design and materials. This exhibition showcases bathing costumes and other highlights from the Archives, Gallery & Museums’ collection of 20th-century beachwear, many of which were gifted by Peggy Walker (1924–2016). Peggy taught dressmaking and costume design at the Northern College of Education in Aberdeen. She was an expert on historical costume and her donation formed the basis of our costume and textile collection.

Exhibition curated by Morna Annandale, Art Curator.
