Talk by Christine Arnold-Solomon, Retired Lecturer, Gray’s School of Art
This illustrated talk looks at how fashion can cause disapproval, even outrage.
The roots of this divide in perceptions of taste in clothing and fashion are arguably due to the invention of the teenager and teenage fashion as part of 20th-century pop culture. Christine shares examples from previous decades (now seemingly preposterous extreme styles) with a little nostalgia and humour.
At the end of her talk, Christine invites you to share memories or photos of your experiments with fashion, or membership of fashion/music tribes past and present.
