Net Zero Aberdeen
The Net Zero Aberdeen Routemap sets out a pathway towards Aberdeen becoming net zero by 2045. It is a collaborative piece which was developed by Net Zero Leadership Board and Net Zero Delivery Unit.
Alongside the routemap sits 6 enabling strategies, each developed by a different organisation within the Delivery Unit:
- Mobility Strategy
- Buildings and Heat Strategy
- Circular Economy Strategy
- Energy Supply Strategy
- Natural Environment Strategy
- Empowerment Strategy
The Leadership Board and Delivery Unit were formed of representatives of organisations based or working in Aberdeen.
Delivery of the route map will require a collective citywide effort for all of Aberdeen. A refreshed Aberdeen Net Zero and Adaptation Board has been assembled to drive forward plans and actions, combining local knowledge, resources, and expertise for the most appropriate solutions for the city.
As a city at the heart of the energy sector, the energy transition is a vital priority for Aberdeen. Using skills, knowledge, and experience as a world-leader in energy, the city is investing in net zero technology, building low carbon infrastructure and reskilling and upskilling to support a just transition to net zero.
