Guthrie the Goose playfully introduces our youngest visitors to a different artwork or theme each month. Sessions can include a mixture of music, dance, crafts and games. Guthrie likes to get messy, so you might like to dress down, bring an old towel and a change of clothes. Suitable for pre-school children ages 2–5 years and children must be accompanied by an adult.
Say Hello to Guthrie
Wednesday 6 July
This month Guthrie the Goose introduces us to one of his favourite artworks, To Pastures New by James Guthrie. Together we’ll explore this painting through movement, songs, games and stories.
Beach-time Boogie
Wednesday 10 August
Join Guthrie on an imaginary trip to the beach in this lively movement session inspired by the rolling blue seas in William McTaggart’s A Ground Swell, Carradale. Led by dance artist Ruth Kent, we’ll dip our toes into the water and perhaps even set sail together.
Musical Play Tour
Wednesday 7 September
Hop on board with Elaine McCarry from Music Bus Aberdeen for a musical exploration of Aberdeen Art Gallery using songs, instruments, rhymes and props, making lots of noise along the way.
Gallery Explorers
Wednesday 5 October
Guthrie's Goslings are off on an adventure with drama artist Amy Hall Gibson, dipping and diving as we journey through the exhibits, using our imaginations to create our own stories, bringing what we see to life. Fun and adventure for everyone as we scoop up the magic of Aberdeen Art Gallery
