How can 15th-century legal documents be turned into contemporary folk songs? This project set out to answer that question using Aberdeen’s UNESCO-recognised medieval town registers.
Join historian Dr Claire Hawes, and musicians Davy Cattanach, Paddy Buchanan and Craig Spink to hear the finished songs, learn about Aberdeen’s medieval history, and find out how the two were brought together. Each song tells its own story from the Aberdeen registers and is performed on guitars, bodhran and percussion with vocals in Scots.
