In addition, for a week in June, officers ran a number of City Centre Placecheck exercises as part of Robert Gordon's College S1 Big Week. You can find a summary of the fieldwork undertaken for each character area of the City Centre below:

The young people of Aberdeen represent the future of the city and it is only right that this demographic group are more actively involved in important decisions affecting their city. Young people must be empowered to take a more active role in their shaping their local communities. The principal aim of the Aberdeen Local Development Plan (ALDP) Youth Engagement Programme was to promote and encourage the important role young people can play in looking into the future of places and expressing how they think they should be designed and planned. To date, two rounds of youth engagement were held as part of the preparation of the ALDP 2017, the first at Pre-Main Issues Report Stage (April-June 2013) and the second at Main Issues Report Stage (January-March 2014).

Our Youth Engagement Programme won an award at the 2014 Scottish Awards for Quality in Planning. We won in the Community Involvement Category for Engaging Young People in the Aberdeen Local Development Plan. So a big THANK YOU to all of you who helped us to win the award.

As part of the award process interviews took place with a panel of judges. Hannah from Robert Gordon's College volunteered to take part in the interviews with our team. Thank you Hannah, we greatly appreciated you being there with us. 

The Scottish Government have produced a booklet about the award winning projects and those which received commendation.
